Build Week #8: Engine is out and LS3 gets Delivered

What a fantastic week. Jake and Tim removed the S52, ZF 5 speed, and insulation. The engine bay looked very good . There was a tiny bit of surface rust on the right shock tower. Jakes plan is to clean up the surface rust and make the seams look nice. We learned that the previous owner not only removed the AC compressor but also the condenser from radiator. I planned on using a new radiator to make room for a CARB legal air intake. We most likely will need to move the radiator to make some room up front for the intake.

The other exciting news is GM Performance sent us our LS3-and our T-56 Super Magnum transmission. It was like Christmas in April. Jake and the Classic Daily team will start fitment for the package including building custom engine mounts and figuring out how to clear the LS3 OEM exhaust manifolds with the steering shaft. To meet the rules for CARB we need to retain without modifications the exhaust manifolds. To meet the CARB legal engine swap rules for using a 2010 Camaro SS drop out we need to bring in the EVAP system over as well so lots of challenges to come.
